Invitation to the exhibition

Women of Mathematics – A Gallery of Portraits

In honor of the International Women's Day (March 8) and International Day of Mathematics (March 14), the exhibition »Women of Mathematics – A Gallery of Portraits« is on display from March 7 to March 28, 2022 in the Gallery of the Faculty of Education in Ljubljana. The exhibition offers a glimpse into the world of mathematics, through photographs (by Noel Tovia Matoff) and excerpts of interviews (by Sylvie Paycha) of women mathematicians throughout Europe. The exhibition, first designed for the 7th European Mathematical Congress in Berlin (2016), has since toured more than 100 cities across Europe and the world.

An extended exhibiton, focusing on female mathematicians from the Euro-Mediterranean region, was organized for the 8th European Congress of Mathematics in Portorož, Slovenia (2021), by DMFA and the University of Primorska. The Slovenian exhibition, coordinated by Marjeta Kramar Fijavž and Jasna Prezelj, has already been displayed in the Armerija Palace in Koper, the Municipality of Nova Gorica, and in the ZRC SAZU Atrium, where three of the portrayed women, prof. dr. Blaženka Divjak (University of Zagreb), prof. dr. Nežka Mramor Kosta (DMFA and University of Ljubljana) and prof. dr. Dušanka Perišič (University of Novi Sad), participated in a round table discussion. A recording of the discussion, moderated by dr. Jovana Mihajlovič Trbovc, is available here.
