Society of mathematicians, physicists and astronomers of Slovenia

The Society of Mathematicians, Physicists, and Astronomers of Slovenia (DMFA Slovenije) is a non-profit membership organization dedicated to advancing and disseminating knowledge in mathematics, physics and astronomy at all levels of education and research. The main activities of the Society include organisation of science competitions and meetings, conducting outreach activities, promoting the advances of mathematics, physics and astronomy as well as science in general, and participates in a wide range of international iniciatives.

Its membership comprises individuals from educational institutions, academia, national laboratories, and industry, both within Slovenia and abroad.

The society was founded in 1949 by Professor Josip Plemelj, the founding Rector of the University of Ljubljana (1919) and the father of modern Slovenian mathematics.
